Alana Blanchard (born March 5, 1990) is an American professional surfer. At 21 years of age, Blanchard has gained fame as "one of the best female surfers," Alana is a ASP World Tour surfer, based in Kauai, Hawaii. She is best friends with fellow surfer Bethany Hamilton, Alana was present when Hamilton suffered the shark attack that cost her an arm, and Hamilton likely surviveddue to the fact that she is a surfer and her calmness. She is played by actress Lorraine Nicholson in the 2011 film Soul Surfer. I love traveling, making new friends and surfing different waves around the world. I know it won be easy but my goal in life is to win a world title some day. I feel so lucky to be able to pursue a professional career doing something that I love so much, and without the support from my parents and sponsors it would never have happened.Like Bethany, Alana is very close with Christ. Alana was with Bethany the whole time during her attack. Alana stayed brave and swam next to Bethany until they got to shore. She has a true heart and is a special and loyal friend to Bethany.Alana, like Bethany, has been in many competitions! One contest she won at a young age was the Pipeline Pro.
